Dentistry

Dr. Joshua Martin completed his studies in Dentistry at King’s College London and starts his Dental Foundation Training with the NHS in September. In 2022 he was awarded the Patient Consideration Prize for effort and commitment shown to patient treatment. Joshua knew from high school he wanted to become a dentist, studying science subjects at A-level and joining his school’s Medicine & Dentistry Club. Outside of study, Joshua enjoys yoga and cooking.

The biggest challenge I’ve faced is imposter syndrome. I’m learning to embrace that I will always have more to learn in dentistry and try to use it as motivation to study and continue to deepen my knowledge.

Joshua’s approach to dentistry is people-orientated, the aspect he enjoys most is helping patients improve their health and wellbeing. He is interested in the field of endodontics (root canal treatment) and oral surgery and would like one day to do a master’s degree in a specialist field. In Cayman, Joshua interned at the Health Service Authority’s Merren Dental Centre and also spent a summer with Dart’s real estate finance team giving him exposure to a different work environment. Being a Dart Scholar kept Joshua connected with the professional community in Cayman and with his peers working in other industries.
