Young volleyball athletes build their skills at the Arts & Recreation Centre

Investing in young athletes means investing in the future of the Cayman Islands.

For the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation, having the Camana Bay Arts & Recreation Centre serve as a home for its youth athletes to train has created opportunities that extend well beyond the volleyball court.

“It is a true partnership, in my belief. It is built on shared values of development, opportunity and community impact,” Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation Technical Director Dr Trevor Theroulde said. “It creates a pathway for young people to pursue their goals while representing the Cayman Islands with pride.”

Twice per week, volleyball players ages 8 to 18 use the facility to work on their skills and, for some, prepare for international competition. The partnership has benefited more than just the players. It has had a positive impact on all facets of the federation, including coaches, administrators and supporters.

“That commitment to supporting sport and youth development is making a lasting and meaningful difference across the Cayman Islands,” Theroulde said. “It has ensured the sustainability of our programmes for future generations. The benefits to our volleyball athletes cannot be quantified. It has been tremendous.”
