Jr. NBA coming to Cayman

The Cayman Islands this month is set to host the official youth programme of one of the biggest sporting brands on earth — the National Basketball Association.

Dart has partnered with the NBA to host several community events from 25-28 May at Cayman International School. Its official youth programme — the Jr. NBA — will produce clinics for referees, coaches and players as well as a 3-on-3 tournament for youth 14 and under. The events are sponsored by Dart and all are free.

"We're happy to be working with the Jr. NBA to bring these events to the Cayman Islands," Dart Manager of Community Development Dominic Ross said. "The NBA is the best basketball league in the world and there's no better organisation we'd want to pair with than the Jr. NBA to help spark interest in the sport of basketball and do our part to encourage continued growth in youth participation within the various local programmes."

The coaching and referee clinics are open to any community member who would like to get involved in local basketball programmes. The 3-on-3 tournament is open to all students under 14 years of age. There will be an Under-12 and Under-14 division for both boys and girls. Students need to sign up through their schools.
