Children and families across Grand Cayman will be treated to a summer of crafts, story time and singalongs as part of Summer in Dart Park. This free summer series is open to the public – residents and visitors, alike – and occurs every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the amphitheatre at the Dart Family Park through the end of August.
The initiative is part of Dart’s Growing Communities programme, which aims to create meaningful family-friendly experiences that benefit the entire Caymanian community.
Dart has teamed up with Baobab Education and Miss Izzy to create a mix of activities suitable for children of all ages that encourage playfulness, creativity and imagination.
“The Cayman community is eager for more family-oriented activities, particularly during the summer months when children are out of school and parents are actively seeking opportunities to keep them engaged,” said Dominic Ross, Dart’s asset and community portfolio manager. “We had such an incredible turnout last year and great feedback from the community that we expanded the series from two to three days per week for the summer programme.”
Baobab Education, known for its child-led and experiential learning approach, will host the nature-inspired sessions; Tuesday mornings will feature sensory-rich nature play, while Thursday evenings offer themed story time followed by hands-on crafts.
“Nature offers children endless opportunities to learn, play and connect. Our sessions are designed to spark curiosity, creativity and mindful exploration in a joyful, meaningful way,” said Tatum Acutt, owner of Baobab Education
Singer and songwriter Isadora Ferrao, affectionately known as “Miss Izzy”, will entertain and engage families with her popular singalong sessions on Saturday mornings. Here, the whole family can sing, clap and dance together in a fun and healthy setting.
“Music creates connection and is important for children’s social and psychological development,” said Miss Izzy. “It’s an easy way for children, parents and communities to express themselves emotionally and creatively.”
All Summer in Dart Park sessions are free to the public. Registration is not required. Follow Dart’s social channels on Instagram and Facebook for weather or general schedule updates or contact community@dart.ky for more information.
