Ian Downing holds senior executive roles and directorships on various operating and investment entities within the Dart organisation. He provides leadership to operational, financial and governance teams with a focus on measuring and enhancing investment and project performance.
He is a Certified Public Accountant, Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, accredited director and CFA® charter holder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor. Originally from Canada, Ian moved to the Cayman Islands in 2002 where he enjoys spending time with his family, diving and cycling. He is an advocate for education in the community, having been a school governor at Cayman Prep & High School before leading the expansion of Cayman International School.
Ian was chief financial officer at Dart Enterprises before assuming a board appointment and moving to more global-facing roles in 2021 and has broad experience in finance and executive management. He first joined Dart in business development where he analysed investment opportunities in active companies, later transferring as vice president of the passive investment portfolio. He has chaired several internal committees, including Investment, Ethics, and Audit & Risk, and is a strong proponent of Dart’s values and culture.
